How do I correctly set up Google Tag Manager?

GTM - Google Tag Manager - DSGVO Cookie Integrations

Updated yesterday

To integrate Google Tag Manager, simply add your container ID (starting with "GTM-") to your account with us – that's all you need to do.

With Google Tag Manager, you can easily implement tools like chatbots, cookie banners, Google Analytics, and the Facebook Pixel.

You’ll find the setting under: Settings > Integration > GTM

What is Google Tag Manager?

Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a tool that allows you to add code snippets like tracking codes, external chat tools, or conversion pixels to your site. The advantage is that GTM is free to use and doesn’t require you to modify your website’s source code directly.

If you add your GTM container ID in Memberspot, you can simply follow the setup instructions of each service and manage everything easily through Google Tag Manager.

Review and accept the GTM guidelines before use

Please note that using Google Tag Manager may require additional data privacy considerations on your part — for example, updating your privacy policy and obtaining user consent and/or addressing data transfers to the United States.

Embedding external solutions

You are responsible for ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, and we do not provide legal advice. GTM allows you to decide which external tools you'd like to integrate.

Many chat solutions — such as Intercom or Zoho Desk, to name just two — can be added via GTM. Whether a specific tool is compatible and works correctly should be tested on a case-by-case basis.

Tracking pixels from tools like HubSpot can also be integrated via Google Tag Manager.
